Overview

Metal Clad cell types consist of 5 main sections. These sections are divided by metal curtains, and movable curtains and insulated transition equipment are used in the transitions to ensure continuity. Designs differ according to the voltage level (12, 17.5, 24, 36 and 40.5 kV) and can be produced with different brand components if required.

A — Low Voltage Section Contains all secondary circuits necessary for control (measurement, protection, monitoring, communication and other related systems).

B — Breaker Section The following equipment is used in the breaker section: - Vacuum circuit breaker - Voltage transformer with fuse - Disconnector truck

C — Busbar Section Contains electrolytic coppers, insulators and bushings selected in accordance with the rated current. Access to this section requires special instructions and safety precautions.

D — Voltage Transformer Section Houses a withdrawable fuse + voltage transformer combination. Security is provided by mechanical locks and a curtain mechanism.

E — Cable Compartment The following equipment is used in this section: - Current transformer - Voltage transformer - Surge arrester - Grounding switch - Capacitive voltage divider - Cable gland and fittings

Cell Types - Bus Coupling Switchgear - Bus Riser Switchgear - Voltage Measurement Switchgear - Incoming Switchgear - Outgoing Switchgear

Security Considerations Metal Clad cells provide the best protection among air-insulated switching systems. Each section is separated by metal partitions for a high degree of safety. Short-circuit, short-time current and internal-arc tests are carried out in accredited certified laboratories in accordance with IEC 62271-200. Mechanical interlocks prevent incorrect operation: the door cannot be opened while the breaker is not in the test position and grounded, and the breaker cannot move to the service position while the door is open. The breaker can be locked in the service and test positions, the IP observation window shows the breaker status, and movable curtains close when the breaker is withdrawn.

Maintenance and Control Armtek "ARMC Series" offers greater reliability, more safety and maximum ease of maintenance. Production facilities are ISO-9001 certified, with quality assured by extensive design and production tests. The low voltage compartment provides ample space to test and replace internal cables, and the independent busbar compartment is structured so that maintenance in other sections poses no risk. Easy disassembly and assembly of all equipment minimize maintenance and control times.

Advantages - LSC2B maximum service continuity - Metal partitions grounded between compartments - Maximum human safety with the AFLR internal-arc test feature - Safe against operational errors with electrical and mechanical interlocks - Fast circuit breaking and easy maintenance with withdrawable vacuum / SF6 breakers - Continuity in the grounding system - Capacity that can always be increased with the modular compact design - Short-time withstand tested at 31.5 kA / 3 s - Long operating life — 10,000 switching operations - After-sales service and spare parts availability
